Louisiana is known for its Cajun roots. Deep in the heart of Cajun Country a movement has been brewing for years. Country Music has surfaced on the popular side of Cajun Culture several times in history, but what is happening in today’s current climate is nothing short of magical. Recently the Country music genre has become well represented in the biggest country music market in the country. Just across the border to our west in Texas, Louisiana has made its way to the top of the Texas Regional Radio Report. Opelousas Native, Kylie Frey sits in the top spot this week, with her smash hit duet with Texas Country Superstar Randy Rogers “Too Bad”. We recently sat down with the host of Louisiana’s brand new Country music showcase show “Fuzzy’s Country Corner” Jordan “Fuzzy” LaSalle. Which airs every Wednesday afternoon on www.radiolouisiana.com. He said “Country music has deep roots in Louisiana, since the 1980’s a lot of Country music artists have seen national success. It all started for them in the “honky-tonks” in rural Louisiana. I’m just glad that artists have found an avenue to share their music with the masses. Social Media has provided opportunities to be seen by a wider audience; and that’s simply amazing.”

We did some research into just how many Louisiana Country Artist are finding success in the “Red Dirt” market. What we found was incredible. Along with Kylie Frey who is now enjoying her second Number One record on the Chart. Other very notable names to grace the Texas Regional Radio Report are, Dustin Sonnier, Freddie Pate, and Jeff Dugan. Dustin Sonnier has released two previous singles to Texas Radio and has seen some stellar success with “Whiskey Makes Her Miss Me” going to number 14, and “People Like Me” at number 9. Sonnier’s next single “Neither Do I” ships to radio this week. Jeff Dugan’s Debut on the Chart Came last week with his single “Dashboard Jesus” which entered the Chart at number 100 and jumped to Number 82 in just one week. Louisiana has some great talent, all you have to do is look around. If you are a fan of Country music and believe in supporting locals check out “Fuzzy’s Country Corner” or go out and check out these great artists at a show near you soon. You won’t be disappointed.
