Every night we try to decide what would be the best album or song to listen to before thinking about finding some Live music for the weekend ahead. Tonight we decided to share a classic song from Porter Wagoner. The song “Satisfied Mind” was originally written by Red Hayes and Jack Rhodes and has continued to be a remake for many musicians such as Joan Baez, Jeff Buckley, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and many more. The song below was covered and made a smash hit in 1955 while being played on The Grand Ole Opry stage in May of 1967. We hope you enjoy the song and hope it may inspire you to find some live music this weekend in your town! ~ Live and LocalΒ

Facts about the song: This track was originally written by Red Hayes and Jack Rhodes. Hayes explained the origin of the song in an interview: “The song came from my mother. Everything in the song are things I heard her say over the years. I put a lot of thought into the song before I came up with the title. One day my father-in-law asked me who I thought the richest man in the world was, and I mentioned some names. He said, ‘You’re wrong, it is the man with a satisfied mind.'” He added: “It has been done a lot in churches. I came out of the Opry one night and a church service was going on nearby. The first thing I hear was the congregation singing ‘Satisfied Mind.’ I got down on my knees.”
