Each year, on the second weekend of October, the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce hosts the World  13892240_1105556246201817_6697079336507066137_n Championship Gumbo Cook-Off, a premier event in Iberia Beginning Saturday, October 8th, the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce will host its 27th annual World Championship Gumbo Cook-off. Taking over historical downtown Main Street, the two-day event features the coming together of locals and visitors to celebrate Cajun cuisine and music. The main event happens Sunday, October 9th with 100 teams competing to call themselves ‘champions” with the best gumbo in the world.

Saturday is fondly dubbed “Cajun Creole Foodfest” with teams cooking their favorite Cajun and Creole dishes for lunch, including two mini-competitions taking place – Meanest Beans and Youth Gumbo Cook-off throughout the day.

DIRECTIONS:
 Easiest route- Drive into Iberia Parish on Hwy 90 (future corridor i-49), Hwy 182, Hwy 31 or Hwy 14. Roll your window down—INHALE and follow your nose to downtown New Iberia. Aroma should get stronger as you get closer.
 
For those of you who prefer to use GPS, the location of the Cookoff is, 100 West Main Street, New Iberia, Louisiana, 70560. It is in Bouligny Plaza in the downtown commercial historic district. You can’t miss it!
