Alyse Young, a sophomore at Lafayette High in the Performing Arts Academy program for guitar, has unveiled Unfamiliar, a five song acoustic EP on November 13.

A follow up to her debut album, Unrequited Love, released last fall at the age of 14, this EP is a fully original acoustic album, with thoughtful melodies and lyrics about relationships, performed with mellow, soothing vocals.

A fresh new voice in our musician community, Alyse is gradually establishing a notable resume. She won the songwriter competition at Artmosphere last fall, won the Lafayette High School talent show as a freshman, was a top 5 finalist in The Times of Acadiana Best of 2015 (Best Local Original Music Solo category), and her debut album, Unrequited Love, is being played on local radio.

Alyse started learning guitar at the age of 7, began writing songs at the age of 11, and picked up the ukulele soon after. At 15, she already has several years of public performance under her belt at local restaurants and festivals, and enjoys sharing her originals and her unique laid-back interpretations of cover songs with her audience. Some of her influences include John Mayer, Ed Sheeran, and Colbie Caillat.
