Guitar Talk with Guitarist & Songwriter Matt Castille
St. Martinville, LA native Matt Castille has been playing the guitar since he was 15 years old. His first instrument of choice was going to be the drums, “Mom wouldn’t have that” he says. So with a dusty guitar given to him from a family member he started playing the guitar. His first gig was in high school in Breaux Bridge, LA, and he started singing around the age of 18. He started writing heavily around 25, and has influences from Country & Zydeco, to Metallica. “A little bit of everything” he says.
The First night I met Matt Castille I watched the crowd at Bob’s Pub in Lafayette, LA stop and listen to his songs while playing randomly. He seemed to be a humble guy, just wanted to enjoy the fun of playing! The song that had a deep meaning “Technology” seemed to grab quite a few folks attention in the crowd that night. I felt it was something more would have an interest in listening to.
I thought the song was inspireable, it makes you think, while realizing by the end of the song you realize we take things for granted at times. But even still, we can’t stop moving without just that Technology. The appreciation of someone grabbing a pen and writing a great song is one I have for Matt Castille, and also for Dan Jack. I hope you feel the same, and enjoy their “Guitar Talk.”
Currently starting May 10, Matt & Dan will be on the “Get in the damn van” tour starting inΒ Texas and ending in Colorado!
