This Saturday night, December 17th will certainly be a night to remember.  The location, Scandals Nite Club.  The event, a one night only reunion of the ages with DJ Super Dave.  Music, PLAZA STYLE!

I can remember vividly walking into the La Promenade Mall on Johnston Street back in the 80’s with my mother.  While she shopped from store to store, I was the curious little kid hanging around in the coolest spot in the mall, Tunz.  Although too young to understand the significance of the store, it’s owner/operator, or the clientele, I could feel the presence of something special happening in there.  Tunz was a not just a record store.  It was special.  Not your typical big box record store, Tunz was THE PLACE where Disc Jockeys alike went to find the latest and greatest tracks.  It was a staple in the industry for DJ’s all across the south.

There are literally hundreds of DJ’s across the south that look to Super Dave Landry as a mentor and teacher.  One of the most popular of Super Dave’s students is none other than the star of the show at Scandals Nite Club for over 5 years now, Jason Broussard aka DJ Mooch.  “Super (Dave) was someone we all looked up to growing up in the business.  While working at Tunz, we were able to pick up on his style and definitely learned a lot.  We ended up playing many shows together and I’m excited to be sharing the platform with him this Saturday night; I can’t wait”, says Broussard.

Starting at the age of 16, “Super Dave” Landry began spinning records for private parties, weddings, casinos, and festivals.  He was quickly a top pick for the job at many nightclubs and for years was the engineer for many live “on air” radio mixshows.  “My love of music has educated me in many different styles of it, and a passion for spreading that love to others is the force that keeps me going (after 34 years)”, says Landry.

There was no other time in Super Dave’s history where he made an impact on the night life in Acadiana than when he played at the most prolific night club ever in this city.  Super Dave was the star of the show for years at The Plaza and made an impression on the clientele that will surely last a lifetime.  Super Dave can still be found playing regular shows at local venues across Acadiana but none has excited his past clientele more than the event coming this Saturday night at Scandals Nite Club.  Once again, DJ Super Dave will climb back in the saddle and play all of the music that made him (more) famous back in the day!  Many describe the music as “Plaza Style” and many others can’t describe it at all.  “It’s a feeling that you get when he (Super Dave) goes from one song to the other with flawless precision that gets you pumped up.  It’s the energy that he portrays through the music that is so special”, describes one party-goer.   The energy will be flowing through the walls at Scandals this Saturday night with the music, the lights, the people, and you can bet…… it will be Super!
