Remembering Ray Maturin: A Great Friend, Musician, & Vocalist from Louisiana.

This week we wanted to take the time and remember Mr. Ray Maturin. Ray was a great friend & musician from the Acadiana area and many knew him from Bob’s Pub, or possibly recently playing with Shimmur. After losing him this week we wanted to share this interview we did with him a year ago to always remember his great musician side but also a humble and deep side of him as well.

Ray was so great at letting many musicians know what he heard and how he enjoyed it. Something so simple but yet so huge when many are working and building something musically. I greatly appreciated that about Ray and so many have memories involving Ray but we all knew of his honesty and also his passion behind the microphone.

It was quite a memory to have been able to sit down with him and talk about his album “Ray’s Joint” under the name “Raywood.” We really are happy to remember him by releasing it and also playing many tracks from this album on Radio Louisiana in rotation. For those who are interested we urge you to click the links below and listen to his music on this album below. RIP Ray it was a pleasure to have known you man. LAL

— The interview below is widely shwoing Ray’s patience, his wisdom behind the music, and also many reasons behind some of the tracks on Ray’s Joint. I really hope people learn from many things Ray says in the interview because he really did have alot of knowledge to share.

Ray Maturin “Raywood” has been a songwriter and vocalist for 30+ years and has an amazing track record that you would remember as an opening band for various names like Stevie B., Kyper, Noel, and many more in the early 80’s and 90’s with a band called X-Change.

Ray has been through many ups and downs in the music industry….from signing with labels and having to start all over again… to playing with Shimmur. Now Ray is back songwriting as “Raywood.” And clearly this is one album that will make you say this is “heart-felt songwriting” from a man who loves the ability to sing, and loves to sing for people who enjoy live music.

Our favorite tracks on the CD are “Walk By Faith,” “Dirty Ways,” “Be That Man,” & “Louisiana Rain.”

We feel if you take the time to click purchase the CD below you will also feel it will be one of the best in your collection. If you have been looking for a “gem” in your CD collection this one is it. Best of luck to this Louisiana Musician and hopefully the best of success on the new CD titled “Ray’s Joint.”
